At first listen, Tove Lo’s “Lady Wood” seems as if it is about getting wasted, but once hearing all 12 songs, listeners can identify that the real storyline is about love. The Swedish alternative pop star released her second studio album on Oct. 28. The album features several artists including Wiz Khalifa and Joe Janiak. Telling a story, it is split into two chapters, “Fairy Dust (Chapter I)” and “Fire Fade (Chapter II).” “Fairy Dust” is about the highs of her relationship, and “Fire Fade” is about the lows in her relationship. The songs cultivate powerful yet beautiful messages.

The first chapter features sounds that will put listeners into a jovial mood, starting off with the Wiz Khalifa collaboration “Influence.” The lyrics voice an addicting relationship, as if their love is a drug; it is a metaphorical song. She says that she is “under the influence.”

A standout on the album is “Lady Wood.” The message is one of empowerment by include lyrics such as, “I know what people say about you. They say the same about me.” Tove Lo successfully connects with listeners by making them feel as if she has gone through similar obstacles as them.

A moodier song, “True Disaster,” is a sad love story how she was cheated on. Although, she has a love so dear, so she lets them, “keep playing [with her] heart strings…”

As the song collection continues, “Cool Girl,” proves to be an anthem to any individual in need of a boost of confidence.

“Vibes,” featuring Joe Janiak, is an Indie dream; it has these mellow feels when listened to. Here, Janiak’s voice is absolutely astonishing.

Released on Nov. 1, the chapter earned a whole visual movie on Vevo. It brings life to the words that are sung.

The concluding chapter, “Fire Fade,” embodies the heartfelt meaning of the album.

There is genuine and authentic passion on this part of the album

The first song on this chapter, “Don’t Talk About It,” depicts an argument between her and her lover. She wished to talk about what had happened, but he does not. Her lover just “sweeps it under the rug.” The meaning of this song is beyond beautiful. The last words at the end makes listeners pour with tears.

“Keep it Simple” is a tale about a breakup, a particularly rough one. It is so rough to the point where she does not want to see her ex. She just wants to retrieve her belongings and leave.

“Flashes” is her experience with fame. The main point includes lamenting on how the paparazzi took pictures of her every move.

“WTF Love Is” is another fight, where her lover does not understand love. The visuals for this chapter are in the making.

Comparing this album to her others, this one prevails. The meaning is more prominent than her last. The album is available everywhere now.
